Commitment to Sports & Student Well-Being

At the Deutsche Schule der Borromäerinnen Alexandria, the promotion of sports is regarded as an essential pillar of education. Physical activity is not only fundamental to maintaining health and vitality, but also contributes significantly to enhancing concentration, resilience, and overall mental well-being. By engaging in sports, our students cultivate discipline, teamwork, and a balanced lifestyle that supports their academic and personal development.

The school organizes two major annual sporting events that bring the entire school community together:

• Sports Day in November, during which all classes participate in a series of diverse athletic competitions designed to encourage physical fitness, cooperation, and fair play.
• The Alex West Marathon in February, where students compete in a running marathon. Following the awarding of the winners, parents and teachers are invited to join a friendly marathon for fun, strengthening the bonds between school and family while creating an atmosphere of joy, encouragement, and community spirit.

Beyond these large-scale events, Ms. Schatz continuously works on developing and enriching the school’s sports program. Through her guidance, students are motivated to maintain an active lifestyle, discover their individual talents, and experience the joy of movement throughout the academic year. Her commitment ensures that sports remain a vibrant and integral part of school life.
Through these initiatives, led with passion and expertise by Ms. Schatz, the Deutsche Schule der Borromäerinnen underscores its commitment to nurturing both the physical and mental well-being of its students. In doing so, the school integrates sports into its broader vision of holistic education, where intellectual growth, artistic expression, and physical health work hand in hand to empower students for a balanced and successful future.
