Our Sisters belong to the

Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo.

Their motherhouse is the Kloster Grafschaft monastery, located in the Hochsauerland region of Germany. The congregation selflessly dedicates all its efforts to charitable ecclesiastical service. They carry out this mission in

  • Retirement and nursing homes, hospitals, and convalescent facilities – especially for the elderly and the underprivileged,
  • Outpatient care,
  • Youth education in children’s homes, kindergartens, and after-school care centers,
  • Educational institutions for social professions,
  • Schools,
  • Catechesis and pastoral care,
  • Administration of social and charitable institutions.

Here in Egypt, the Sisters care for the Pelizäus Home (a retirement home) in Alexandria, and for the German Schools of the Borromean Sisters in Alexandria and in Cairo, Bab el-Louk.

The German School of the Borromean Sisters Alexandria was founded in 1884, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Egypt. For over 140 years, DSBA has been a beacon of academic excellence and cultural exchange.
