Last week, the Deutsche Schule der Borromäerinnen Alexandria had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Schnack from Hamburg to our school. Dr Schnack serves as the examination commissioner for our region. Together with his colleagues in Hamburg, he was responsible for reviewing the written Abitur examination papers and, as chair of the examination board, supervised the oral Abitur examinations at our school.
Since last Saturday, our Year 12 students have completed more than 90 oral examinations. We are now delighted to announce officially that all students have successfully passed their Abitur examinations. Several students achieved outstanding results. They are therefore excellently prepared for university studies in Germany. For many of our graduates, an exciting new chapter of life now begins, accompanied by important personal and academic decisions for their future.
During his stay, Dr Schnack naturally visited both our current school building and the new campus currently under construction. As the completion of the new campus is now approaching rapidly and the move is scheduled for January 2027, the remarkable progress of the construction work could already be clearly seen. Even at this stage, one can gain an excellent impression of the future campus and the new educational opportunities it will provide. Landscaping and the first planting work in the outdoor areas have already begun.
The students Julie Moustafa (9b) and Hala Gaballah (9b), who accompanied Dr Schnack during his visit, were just as enthusiastic as our guest himself.
Alongside the school programm, Dr Schnack was also given an insight into the culture and history of Alexandria. A guided tour of the Graeco-Roman Museum and the ancient Amphitheatre provided a vivid impression of the cultural richness and everyday life of our city.
