On Friday evening, 5 June 2026, the time had finally come: under the direction of Mr. Kawelke, the DSBA Drama Club proudly presented this year’s production, "From the Present to the Future – Join Us on a Unique Journey". The audience was taken on a fascinating journey into the future.
The destination was the year 2060 – not so very far away, and yet, given the rapid pace of technological development, a world remarkably different from our own. Through creativity and imagination, the students explored how humans and robots might coexist in the years to
come. Who will be in control? What opportunities and challenges will technology bring? And how might our daily lives change? One particularly original aspect of the play was the opportunity for characters to meet
and converse with their future selves. In doing so, the students highlighted an important truth: even in a highly advanced future, many of the fundamental challenges of human society will remain. Conflicts will still need to be resolved, responsibilities assumed, and social inequalities addressed. The future envisioned by our students was both humorous and thought-provoking, encouraging the audience to reflect on the world that lies ahead. The production itself was highly impressive. The performers captivated the audience with their enthusiasm, creativity
and remarkable command of the German language. Particular praise must be given to the students’ linguistic achievement. They delivered demanding dialogue with confidence and expression, both in the spoken scenes and in a rap written by the students themselves. The performance took place in the theatre hall of St Catherine’s, which, for one evening, was transformed with remarkable ingenuity into a futuristic spaceport. We extend our sincere thanks to the leadership and staff of St Catherine’s for their generous support and hospitality. From this imaginative launch pad, our pilots, dressed in galactic uniforms and travelling aboard a supersonic rocket, embarked on a journey filled with unexpected encounters and exciting adventures. The audience followed the performance with great interest, enthusiastically participated in the interactive elements, and rewarded the cast with warm and sustained applause at
the end of the evening. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved: Mr Kawelke for leading the Drama Club, the student actors for their dedication and talent, the administrative leadership and administration team, and all members of staff who supported the rehearsals and performance with tireless commitment. Once again, this production demonstrated the creativity, language skills and team spirit of our students. It was a wonderful evening and one that will undoubtedly remain in our memories for a long time to come.
